Underoath have released a new single titled “Rapture,” the second single off of their upcoming album “Erase Me.” The song starts out with an eerie, mysterious intro, but right off the bat, it shows how anthemic the track will be and is as a whole. The melodies on here are fantastic from beginning to end. The vocal style on here really impressed me, especially during the incredible chorus. This track is, without a doubt, my favorite single out of the ones that the band has dropped from this upcoming record. Overall, I loved this track. I was very pleasantly surprised when I heard it and definitely want to check out “Erase Me” once it drops.
TesseracT have released a new single called “King,” the third single off of their upcoming album “Sonder.” The song starts out with a dark intro that really interested me. The vocals on this track are great and impress me more as the track goes on, especially during the moments on it where every aspect of it is full of passion and energy. The instrumentation gets harder and some screaming is added into the mix. The band did a nice job with the dynamics on this track, balancing out some of those more hard hitting sections of this track with some softer ones. The melodies on here are great as well and they really show off the vocalist’s range. Overall, I thought this was a pretty good track. This band continues to surprise and impress me each time I listen to them, and I’m curious what they have in store with this new record.
Carried Away have released their latest single, “Expectations.” I’d briefly listened to this band before and I liked what I heard from them, so I was curious to hear new music. The song starts out with a catchy melody played on piano, but it’s not long before it transitions to a full band intro, with a guitar replicating that exact piano part. The instrumentation as a whole is one thing I really love about this song. The guitars are catchy, the bass stands out in the bridge, and the drums stand out in the chorus. The chorus on here is fantastic. It really lets the vocals show and that performance is my favorite vocal performance on the entire track. The melodies are great all throughout the track as well. Overall, I thought this track was really good. The band added a few extra things into the song to make their pop punk sound really stand out, and that’s just a part of what makes this song so great.
Blessthefall has released a new single titled “Cutthroat,” off of their upcoming album “Hard Feelings.” The song has a dark intro that really interested me and foreshadowed the aggression that was to come in the rest of the track. The track is a pretty heavy and aggressive one for the most part, especially instrumentally. The instrumentation has so much energy as well, and the screamed vocals match with it perfectly. The chorus of this track has some clean vocals and the melodies are very creative and really stood out to me. Overall, I thought this track was pretty good. It’s kind of similar to things they’ve done in the past, but still a solid track nonetheless.
Home Wrecked are a UK pop punk band that I’ve been a fan of for quite some time now. I really enjoyed their debut EP “When All Goes Wrong” and was excited when they dropped “Moving Day,” the lead single off of their upcoming EP “Try What You Want, Just Make Sure It Works.” This song in particular has some darker instrumentation. The rhythm section gets more of a chance to shine in a lot of the song, but in the hard-hitting chorus and impressive bridge, you can really hear the well-crafted and composed guitar parts. The primarily instrumental bridge was a section of the song that really stood out to me a lot and is definitely a highlight of the track. Overall, I enjoyed this song. There were parts of it that really impressed me and I think it’s interesting seeing the new things the band are doing with their sound, and I’m curious to see what else they have in store on their upcoming EP.
There are many easycore bands that are on the rise, and one of them is No! Not The Bees! The band hasn’t released music in years, up until recently with their new single “Dead Awake.” I thought that the instrumentation on here was great, especially the guitar parts. As far as that goes, the band haven’t strayed too far from their signature easycore sound. However, they have changed things up a bit. There are more clean vocals on here rather than a balance of singing and screaming. Those clean vocals on this track really stood out to me and the melodies, especially in the verses, are really impressive. The chorus on here is pretty good, as well as the breakdown. Overall, I thought that this track was pretty good. I like this band’s sound and am curious to see what they do next.
As We Once Were are a band I’ve been a fan of for quite some time now. I loved their last EP and have loved their music ever since. When they released their new single “More (Better Days),” I was ecstatic about finally hearing new music from this band. The song starts off softer at first until the band’s signature pop-punk instrumentation comes in. The pre-chorus on this track builds up so well to the huge chorus. The melodies and composition on this track stand out a lot, especially in that chorus. The band shows their unique songwriting style yet again on this track, using metaphors in the lyrics in lines such as “I’ve lost count of the paper cuts I've gotten trying to close this chapter of my life, I'm starting to chip away at the laundry list of problems in my mind.” Overall, I think this track is a standout in As We Once Were’s discography and one in the genre they’re a part of.
Dxwnsides were a band that I’ve heard nothing but good things about. I was excited to check out their music for the first time and when I checked out their newest song “Indifference,” I definitely wasn’t let down in the slightest. The darker instrumentation on here grabbed my attention, and there’s so much energy right from the get-go. The melodies on here are well-composed and catchy, especially in the chorus. There are quite a few lyrics that I enjoyed in this song, but one that really stuck out to me was “rip my heart out and hold it there” at the end of the pre-chorus. Overall, I really enjoyed this track. I like the sound that this band has and I’m excited to hear more music from them.
A new pop punk band Break Fate have dropped their debut single “Miraculous,” and what a great debut. One thing that interested me about the song was the composition and the way the song was written in general. I think it’s something a bit unique and it definitely stood out to me. The lyrics stood out to me too, especially the line “it’s too late to get out of this mess that I made.” I absolutely loved the vocals on here as well. There’s so much emotion in the performance, especially in the pre-chorus and chorus of the track. Overall, I enjoyed this track. I thought it was very interesting and definitely a strong debut for this band.
Australia based pop-rock group The Faim have released their debut single, “Saints Of The Sinners.”
