Back in 2021, Belle Haven released their impressive EP “Time Changes Nothing,” and I’ve been a fan of theirs ever since. Nearly two years later, the band have finally returned with a new track, “I Can’t Find The Words.”
The song opens with an unforgettable hook, sung softly before the instruments join in to finish off the intro. Frontman David De La Hoz’ vocal talent stands out throughout the verses, leading up to the song’s anthemic chorus. The catchy lead guitar and bass lines from Daniel Marinakis and Thomas Mitchell perfectly complement the vocal melodies, and the drum fills throughout this section and the brief post-chorus immediately afterwards really captured my attention as well.
Lyrically, the track is a reflection on a relationship that had reached its end, showing one person in said relationship navigating a variety of emotions and trying to find a sense of closure in the aftermath. The chorus in particular shows good examples of the track’s overall theme (“Silence has a hold on me, but I wanted to let you know / I’m still sad to see you go, though I can’t find the words / Silence has a hold on me / Now I’m trying to set you free / ‘Cause I cannot be the person you wanted me to be”). “I Can’t Find The Words” is a spectacular follow-up to “Time Changes Nothing,” and it makes me even more excited to see what is to come from the band in the remainder of 2023. "I CAN'T FIND THE WORDS" IS AVAILABLE NOW. LISTEN TO THE SONG HERE:
