Alone I Walk have released their latest EP, titled “The Hardest Years Yet.”
Lead single and opening track “Get Up” shows the band’s emo and alternative influences right off the bat with the darker instrumentals opening the song the really catchy melodies grab your attention from the moment the vocals come in, and those vocals continue to show off in the even catchier chorus. The drums really stand out as they help drive the track and bring a ton of energy to it, and there’s a good balance of softer and harder hitting sections on the track. “Green To Grey” shows those emo and alternative rock influences even more, from the much darker instrumentation to the louder and more raw vocals, which bring a lot of emotion in their performance.
Second single “Try My Best” brings some darker composition yet again, and the vocals are very similar to those on the last track - a lot louder, a lot more raw, and showing a lot of emotion. The melodies in the verses are very intriguing, followed by a really catchy pre-chorus that builds up to an equally as catchy chorus with some of the best vocals on the entire track. Closing track “Listen To The Rain” shows the band’s more pop punk and pop rock influences through the interesting guitar work in the hard hitting intro, while the darker melodies in the verses show the alternative and emo influences heard on the rest of this record. The song was a good choice for a closer because it encompasses the rest of this EP and the different influences found on it. From the emotion found from beginning to end to the new influences incorporated into these four tracks, “The Hardest Years Yet” is yet another great release from Alone I Walk and was well worth the wait. "THE HARDEST YEARS YET" IS AVAILABLE NOW VIA ANCHOR EIGHTY FOUR RECORDS. LISTEN TO THE EP HERE:
