Tayla Ivy has released her self-titled debut EP.
The EP begins with the introductory track “Time,” driven by orchestral instrumentals before the drums come in, bringing a lot more energy and emphasis to it as it transitions into the following track, “Glue.” There’s some pretty interesting guitar parts driving the intro, and the melodies all throughout the track are pretty catchy, making this track one of the most memorable off the EP. “Into You” is up next, and it’s more of a ballad, led mainly by piano and acoustic guitar, but the guitars later on in the song are some of the highlights as far as the instrumentals - specifically the riff after the chorus and the pretty impressive solo.
“Thank You” is pretty similar, as it’s also led by piano and is another slower track. The melodies on this one are a bit darker and make the composition and vocal performance stand out more. Lead single “One Mistake” is second to last, and it’s easily the most upbeat track on here, with more memorable melodies shown in a really catchy chorus, proving why it was chosen as the lead single. The last track on here is an acoustic version of “Into You,” where the piano and guitar shine even more and the vocal performance captures and portrays the raw emotion in the song. Overall, I thought that this EP was pretty good. There are quite a few standout moments on here as far as the composition and performances go, and the release as a whole shows a lot of promise, and shows off Tayla’s talent as a musician.
