Homebound have released their third EP, titled “More To Me Than Misery.”
“Change Of Heart” was a great choice for the opener. It brings a catchy hook and a lot of energy right from the beginning, drawing the listener in almost immediately. “Coming Clean” is another pretty energetic track, and it’s also one that I feel really shows the band’s darker approach to songwriting and to this genre of music, with some more interesting melodies and some darker lyrics, such as
“bracing myself for the worst-case scenario; put on a brave face before cracks begin to show” and “I'll sleep on what I've said, because it's not a true reflection of everything I really meant.” “Truth Be Told” had me hooked right from the start and is easily one of my favorites on the EP. The melodies are extremely catchy, the chorus is huge, and some of my favorite lyrics of the entire EP are on this track: ”Life never gets easier at all, just a little more heavy and harder to control. The highs and lows, they come and go.” “Indelible” is a bit softer to start out with and comes across as more of a ballad compared to the other tracks. As the song continues on, it gets more hard hitting as the instrumentals become a bit more prominent and the emotional vocals really shine through, especially after the second verse. “Yours Truly” starts out on a softer note as well, but it’s not long before the instrumentals really kick in, providing some interesting riffs and just adding a bit more emphasis to the song in general. The vocals and melodies stick out a lot on here and really grab the listener’s attention, and the instrumentation matches it so well. Overall, I liked this EP. There were some moments on some tracks that definitely stood out to me a bit more than others, but I think each individual song has something great to offer and as a whole, I think this EP is a great release, especially for the pop punk genre.
