REVIEWS
Wearing Thin have released their debut album, titled “More Than Just A Frame.” The album started out with “Demons,” a softer, acoustically led track, which surprised me quite a bit. Regardless, it still shows a lot of emotion (something you’ll hear a lot of on this album) and makes for a pretty good opener. “Still Missing” and “Blame” immediately show off the melodic hardcore elements of the bands sound, especially in the vocals.
“Everything You Need” is a bit of a softer song as far as the instrumentation goes, but the vocals are a lot harsher and that aggression gets to shine through a bit more. “Better Off” is another short acoustically led track, pretty similar to the one that opens up this record. “Hidden In The Framework” has so much emphasis and drama, shown not only in the catchy instrumentation driving the track, but the passionate vocals on it as well. “Anything At All” has some good melodic sections, showing off the vocalist’s singing skills a bit more. “Buried” is one track that I really enjoyed lyrically, especially the lines “I’m sick of chasing silence, I’m out here all alone” and “I don’t think I can do this. I don’t think I can stand. I swear if you would come home, I’d be a better man.” As well as that, the raw, emotional vocals and the darker instrumentation really go well together. “Relapse: Rebuild” is another interlude sort of track, and although there are no vocals on it, the instrumentation still engages the listener. It’s a bit softer to start off, but gradually builds up once the drums kick in. “Gates” is pretty similar in that sense - it starts out softer as well, but it has a huge chorus, especially in the vocal department. The general dynamics used throughout the song are just a part of what makes this song not only a great closer, but also one of the highlights of this entire record. Overall, I thought this record was pretty good. Without a doubt, there is plenty of emotion to be found throughout this record, whether it be in the vocals, instrumentals, or even some of the lyrics.
