Having only formed just last year, South Wales, UK-based Jaws Of LIfe are newcomers to their home country’s pop-punk scene, and the quartet have just made their debut with the release of their new EP, “Jaws Of Life Mini Mix Tape,”
“Stargazing” begins the EP on an anthemic note. Cleaner guitars deliver a simple riff before the rest of the instrumentation kicks in, and the vocals are a major highlight of the track, especially during the song’s massive chorus. The drums stand out on here as well, bringing lively fills throughout, most notably during the bridge.
“I Promise” opens with fast-paced drums and octave lead guitar lines, and the lyrics send listeners words of encouragement during difficult times (“Just because you’re struggling doesn’t mean you’re failing / I know it hurts right now, but I promise you will make it because I won’t let this bring me down / Because I won’t throw in the towel”). Another noteworthy moment on the track is the impressive guitar solo, which precedes the song’s final chorus. “Your Song” is the last of these three songs, and the bright acoustic guitar allows the vocal performance to be at the forefront for the most part, and the performance does a great job at conveying the heartbreak within the lyrics. While most of this song is acoustically driven, the electric guitars, bass, and drums eventually return after the bridge, making this ballad an even bigger closing track. The three very catchy tracks found on “Jaws Of Life Mini Mix Tape” showcase what Jaws Of Life has to offer and collectively make a promising debut. "JAWS OF LIFE MINI MIX TAPE" IS AVAILABLE NOW.
