Since debuting in 2018, Rituals have been dropping a handful of singles, all of which have been leading up to the release of their long-awaited debut EP, “Awake.”
“Awake” begins with its title track, which opens up the EP with energetic and catchy instrumentation, which accompanies a harsher vocal performance once the first verse comes in. The chorus is a lot more melodic, with clean vocals that put on a captivating performance, but the aggression quickly returns during the second verse. “Turn Away From The Sun” is much more melodic, and the vocalist’s impressive range is clearly displayed during another strong performance. The song becomes heavier in the second verse and gradually builds up to a breakdown containing riffs as memorable as the ones that open the track.
“Blinding To Me” is a very catchy track all-around, from the guitars in the intro to the vocals during the verses. “Carved Out” concludes the EP and opens with faster-paced instrumentals before the clean vocals once again take the spotlight in the first verse. The aggression found within the second verse is bound to quickly intrigue the listener in preparation for another breakdown, before the chorus and overall more melodic aspects of the song make a comeback. Each track on this EP combines different elements of heavier music and collectively, they make up a fascinating release from Rituals. "awake" is available now. listen to the ep here:
