IN LIGHT OF US START THE NEXT CHAPTER IN THEIR MUSICAL STORY
In Light Of Us have had quite a good run since their formation in 2013. The four-piece from Twin Cities, Minnesota have played a huge string of shows, put out a couple covers, an EP in 2015, and a new single that could perhaps be the beginning of a new start for In Light Of Us.
"WE WANTED TO TAKE THIS SONG A STEP FORWARD."
The writing process for their latest song "Vultures," is the first step out of their comfort zone as far as making music goes.
"We wanted this song to take a step forward and carry listeners through a more mature and cohesive composition rather than just another collection of riffs. Aside from writing in a different key from the rest of our music, we focused on using the opening lead as a strong thematic element that's the melodic and rhythmic backbone of the entire song. Garrett took some steps forward as well to define a personal tone and vocal style that compliments the stylistic difference. As far as the actual writing process, there's not much to it; I just sat down, opened Guitar Pro, and wrote the song," bassist Kory Serecati reveals about the writing process of the single, which came out back in September.
"The writing process for Vultures was much different then what we have done in the past. Before Kory joined the band, we would hand write all our songs and tabs on sheets of paper. Once Kory joined, he was able to build these songs via Guitar Pro. This really helped us as a band because we could access any of our song files on this system and play them much more consistently," adds guitarist Josh Tutewhol.
So with this new single out, a new EP could be right around the corner, right? Well...
"We may have some new stuff in the works. For right now, we are just pushing this single and see what kind of reception we get from our listeners," Josh hints.
What's next for the band?
"One thing for certain is getting away from that metalcore sound and pushing towards a much more mature feeling for our songs."
It's time to begin a whole new chapter of In Light Of Us.
