Havoc Faction have released their latest EP, titled “Welcome To The Fight.”
The EP kicks off with the title track, which is dark and aggressive right from the get-go. There is a softer section in the bridge, towards the end of the song, that adds a bit more variety to the composition, and the melodies for those more melodic-leaning sections are interesting and memorable.
“Dark Passenger” is a bit slower and starts out with singing rather than screaming, but it’s not long before the hard hitting instrumentation kicks in. The instrumentation on here is very impressive, especially the guitar work, and the softer and harder sections kind of balance each other out and help elevate the song. As far as the lyrics and vocals go, those were also impressive. I liked the balance of clean and unclean vocals, and this song has two of my favorite lyrics on the EP: “take a look in this broken mirror, there is so much left for you to fear,” as well as the ending line, “we have lost ourselves.” “My Human Condition” also starts off softer and more melodic, incorporating some cleaner guitars and a bit more singing than what was heard on the previous two tracks. The vocal performance itself is full of emotion, and the instrumentals back that up, adding more emphasis to the song. Overall, I liked this EP. I think that each of these songs stand out in their own way, and the various different elements found in each individual track show Havoc Faction’s unique take on the rock and post-hardcore genres.
