Violet Nine have released their debut EP, titled “Trials.”
Opener “The Good Life” starts this EP off strong with its big intro, and the captivating vocals deliver intriguing melodies in the verses. The drums build the pre-chorus up to a chorus as huge as the intro that’s strong both vocally and instrumentally, also showing a bit of aggression in both aspects. Speaking of instrumentals, the instrumentals on here truly shine before and during the breakdown later on in the track. Lead single “Miles Away” has another dark intro similar to the one in the previous track, driven by bass before the guitars and drums come in. The track brings so much energy and the vocal performance stands out on this one as well.
Middle track “Victimize” shows the band’s much heavier influences through the instrumentals, not only in the beginning of the song, but also during the big chorus (where the drums and vocals shine) and as the guitars and drums draw the listener in, building up to the breakdown on the track. “Echo” is a bit similar to the opener with its darker intro, and the vocals really grabbed my attention all throughout with the catchy melodies they deliver in the verses and the passion they show in the huge chorus. Closing the EP is “Get Over It,” with some intriguing melodies found in the softer verses, followed by a pre-chorus with shouted vocals that show so much emotion, leading up to a chorus that’s just as catchy. Violet Nine’s debut EP has been a long time coming, and it was well worth the wait. The band’s anthemic rock sound shows very well through the impressive, captivating performances and composition found in all five of these tracks. "TRIALS" IS AVAILABLE NOW. LISTEN TO IT HERE:
