Something Missing have released their debut EP, titled “Space To Breathe, Time To Grow.”
“Empty” starts the EP off strong with extremely memorable riffs and melodies all throughout. While the instrumentals show off a bit more throughout a lot of the song, the vocals also get their chance to truly shine during the emotional bridge. “I Don’t Care” show the band’s more pop punk influences, and the shouted vocals on this track fit perfectly with the fast paced and hard hitting instrumentals that drive the rhythm. “Ghost Town” is one of two ballads on the EP, and it brings a nice change of pace with the softer and cleaner guitars that start it out before it eventually turns into a bigger ballad once the harder instrumentals really kick in.
In the middle of this EP is “Pissed And Stressed,” a track that shows the band’s punk rock and generally much more aggressive influences, and it’s easily the heaviest song on here in every aspect from the energetic, punk leaning riffs and raw, shouted vocals. “Tongue Tied” continues to bring that energy and hits hard right from the beginning, and it’s as strong vocally as it is instrumentally. The darker composition found in the performances show a lot of emotion, and the bridge later on in the track shows great dynamics as the brief softer sections of it help elevate the harder hitting ones. “Verdant” is second to last and is also the second ballad found on this release. Similarly to “Ghost Town,” it also incorporates cleaner and softer guitar, and the vocal performance shows the band’s emo and alternative rock influences. Concluding the EP is the energetic “Disconnect,” where the performances are full of passion and the instrumentals (especially the bass and drums) really show off, and the track overall makes a great closer. Something Missing are starting their career out strong with their debut EP. They draw influence from various genres in this scene, ranging from pop punk to emo with bits and pieces of some heavier music, and their unique sound not only brings quite a bit of variety to this memorable EP, but shows just how much the band stands out and how they have a bright future ahead. “SPACE TO BREATHE, time to grOw” is available now.
