125 And I Love You have released their debut EP, titled “Skeptiks.” “I Fall Apart” seems to be a darker one at first with the instrumentation, but the melodies in the verses are a bit more happy sounding. It’s a pretty catchy song and a good opening track. “Don’t Hate Me” is one with plenty of energy, with very fast paced instrumentation that stands out (mainly the lead guitar and drums), and the song as a whole reminds me of earlier punk and pop punk music. “Brooks Was Here” is a track that really surprised me. It’s a bit darker and pretty upbeat at first, but slows down when the vocals come in. Speaking of the vocals, I really liked the emotion in the vocal performance, and think the screaming in the background fit well in the track.
“The Bar Song” brings the energy back and picks back up right where “Don’t Hate Me” left off. It’s another shorter track, and another one that shows off the band’s punk leaning influences - this time, most notably in the vocals, as there’s more shouted vocals rather than singing. Up next is “New World,” which is another very upbeat and catchy one. While I don’t have much else to say about it, I can say that it’s probably my favorite track on this EP. The last two tracks on here are both tracks that I had mixed feelings on. “Roses For Grandpa” is a slower one with some pretty good melodies, but I didn’t particularly enjoy the lyrics. I didn’t really like the lyrics on the closing track “Happy Here” either, but I do like the energy that the track has and think it’s also pretty catchy as well. Overall, I thought that this EP was pretty good. Despite a couple moments I was critical of, it’s still a solid release with a lot of energy and quite a bit of variety.
