Quitters have released their latest EP, “Singing Like Nobody’s Listening.”
I had briefly listened to this band before and thought what I heard was pretty good, so I figured I’d check out the entire release, and I felt the same way about these songs as well.
Opener “My Own Worst Enemy” kicks off with some catchy and upbeat instrumentals driving the intro that bring a lot of energy to the track as a whole, especially during the pre-chorus and chorus. Speaking of which, “Better Off Dead” is very similar in that aspect, and is arguably even more energetic. The song has more of a punk leaning vibe to it and it shows those kind of influences in the band’s sound not only through that energetic instrumentation, but also the darker composition. There’s also a huge chorus on this track, and the melodies found there make it really memorable. “Letter To Forgotten Friends” also shows the band’s harsher, punk-leaning tendencies with the harsher and more raw vocals, which contrast from the cleaner guitars, but they also all blend and work well together. Second to last is “Burn Your House Down,” which is a bit slower, but still fairly upbeat, and is another one of the most memorable tracks on here, with yet another big chorus and really catchy instrumentals and melodies. The EP closes out with what I feel is its strongest track, “Biting The Dust.” The composition is dark on this one as well, shown mainly through the guitar work. The drums help build up the chorus, which is extremely catchy and one of the best on the whole EP. This track makes a fantastic closer and is easily my favorite out of the five of them. Quitters have created a release that combines various elements from both sides of the pop punk genre and adds a little bit of variety and experimentation with certain elements, making it a solid EP that’s worth a listen.
