Debut single “Bloodshot Blue Eyes” kicks off this EP, bringing upbeat drums and catchy riffs in its huge intro, followed by memorable instrumentals and melodies in the verses and an energetic, unforgettable pre-chorus and chorus. The track is a great debut single for the band and an even better opener for this EP. Following that is the title track “No More Sad,” which shows the band’s pop influences through the synths and electronics driving the song, as well as the vocal shifts in the post chorus. Compared to the opener, it’s slower and softer (but builds up to a captivating ore chorus and chorus) and has some darker composition.
“RIP” is very similar, once again showing the pop elements in this band’s sound through the synths and cleaner guitars, and also incorporating darker composition. The melodies on here are really catchy, and the vocal performance in general shows off very well throughout the track. Single and second to last track “Disappearing” is very similar to the opener, leaning more towards the pop rock side. The drums and bass lead the more upbeat rhythm, and the guitars really shine on this track, especially during the solo towards the end. Not to mention that the chorus is extremely catchy and one of the best on the whole EP. Closing track “Nashville” brings back the slower, softer and overall more laid-back vibe heard in the middle of the EP, though the more ambient instrumentals that lead most of the track make it stand out amongst similar songs. The vocals once again really take the spotlight, and the drums and guitars do the same once they kick in, delivering an emotional bridge. With a ton of passion and a variety of influences, “No More Sad” is a fantastic debut EP from NIGHTBREAKERS that really shows the direction they want to go in. LISTEN TO THE EP HERE:
