Cuecliché have released their sophomore EP, “Look At The Pictures.”
Debut single “Save Me” opens up the EP with some really catchy guitars and energetic drums, followed by a passionate vocal performance in the verses. The darkee pre-chorus leads up to a huge chorus with even more passion, and the drumming in those two sections is great too. All the instruments shine during the beginning of “Take It Away,” before the vocals deliver a catchy hook that’s one of the best on the EP, as well as some memorable melodies in the chorus. The second verse and the sections that follow bring so much more energy to the track, mainly through the fast paced, punk leaning drums. “Puzzle Piece” is similar in that aspect, bringing plenty of energy once again with rapid instrumentals. Between that and the catchy melodies found throughout the track, it’s one that reminds me a bit of older pop punk music.
“It’s Over” has those same elements shown through the guitar driven intro and passionate, emotional vocals similar to those in the opening track. This is one I feel is the strongest vocally on the whole EP, and the chorus on here is one of my favorites. The release concludes with “Prince Of Nowhere,” a solid choice for a closing track. Orchestral instrumentals and piano lead the intro of this one before the guitars, bass and drums come in around 40 seconds into the track, bringing more emphasis to it and making it a harder hitting ballad. With “Look At The Pictures,” Cuecliché have taken a big step forward. The songs on this release show the band refining their sound a little bit more, I loved the direction they went on this EP, and I think it’s a strong sophomore effort for this band.
