Following the release of “The Name We Share” back in 2018, Overgrow has returned with his third EP, titled “Hear Your Voice Again.”
“New Light” opens the EP with some slightly eerie guitar parts, and the various effects make the intro feel more ambient. A soulful vocal performance comes in shortly after, and the hard-hitting drums eventually kick in after about a minute and a half, accompanying the vocals as both of those performances are showcased even more. “Hang Over Me” begins with an atmospheric intro driven by brighter guitars, and the melodies and instrumentals that follow are extremely catchy. The volume is turned up during the choruses, which contrasts from the more laid-back verses, and the additional lead guitar parts at the end emphasize the outro before the song begins to fade out.
“Say Nothing” also contains catchy melodies and instrumentals throughout, and the bridge (which starts on a softer note before quickly getting much louder) brings a vocal performance where the listeners can really hear the raw emotion. “Broken Things” begins on a softer note with an intro that brings back that laid-back and atmospheric vibe heard earlier on in the EP, but the tempo gets more upbeat as the intro progresses and transitions into the verses. “Unraveling” has a darker tone, shown right away through the piano that opens the intro, and the minimal instrumentation allows the vocals to be showcased a lot more, especially in the beginning. More instrumentals get added in about a minute and a half into the song to help drive it, and the song also contains two of my favorite lyrics on the EP: “I want to stay stable, I want to get better” and “I’m okay, just a little sick, but it too will pass.” The second-to-last track, “Spin,” is much more simplistic, but its more relaxing vibe makes it another nice one to listen to, and it precedes the closing and title track, which also starts off on a softer note before the harder-hitting drums kick in to help drive the rhythm as the song leads up to another upbeat and catchy chorus. From the lyrics to the vocal and instrumental performances, “Hear Your Voice Again” is filled with emotion and continues to show how talented of a musician and songwriter Overgrow is. "HEAR YOUR VOICE AGAIN" IS AVAILABLE NOW. LISTEN TO THE EP HERE:
