WRITTEN BY: MEGThe Fairview have released their long-awaited debut LP, titled “Fresh Faced & Effervescent.” This album is filled with plenty of energetic tracks, starting right away with the opening track, “Black Cat, Broken Mirror, And Two Dead Birds,” which instantly brings tons of energy and catchy composition, starting the album off strong. “Your Hair In The Rain” contains softer verses before a bigger chorus, and the instrumentals get more of a chance to shine later on, performing impressive solos before that chorus returns. “Recover” and “Connecticut” both showcase the band’s pop-punk influences very well, and the vocal harmonies in songs like “Cigarettiquette” and “Plan B” really grabbed my attention and added more to the incredible vocal performances.
A few of the remaining tracks lean more towards the midtempo side, including “Only Greys,” which also begins on a softer note before harder-hitting instrumentals come in to drive the verses and very catchy chorus, “Adhesive,” which has one of the best vocal performances and some of the catchiest melodies and instrumentals on the entire record, and “In Ribcages,” which contains one of the most memorable choruses offered on this album. The remaining two tracks slow things down - “Litviticus 4:20” is a darker track, and “...And The Drive Home” is acoustically driven and darker as well, but the overall darker tone really makes it stand out from a lot of acoustic tracks in this genre of music. “Fresh Faced & Effervescent” is filled with many impressive performances throughout, and is a fantastic debut LP from The Fairview.
