Last Night Saved My Life have released their debut album, titled “Cherry.”
One of the main genres found in this band’s sound is pop punk, shown throughout many moments on many of these tracks, from the very catchy “Nightmares In A Suitcase” to the very upbeat “Talk Me Down” (a song with very interesting vocal harmonies in the beginning). “Would You Go Back” brings so much energy and makes a fantastic closer, “Waterfall” is unforgettable from start to finish and has a great feature from State Champs’ Derek DiScanio, and both tracks are some of the best on the entire album.
Another major genre found on this record is pop rock, and another handful of tracks on here not only show off those influences, but also mix those with the pop punk influences found on this record. Memorable opener “On The Ropes” and vocally impressive “Dead Ends And Promises” are two of the biggest examples of this. “Undone” adds in some piano (particularly in the beginning) before leading up to a harder hitting chorus, and “Daydream” adds in some acoustic guitars and soulful vocals with some more anthemic sections, such as the pre-chorus and chorus. The album slows down occasionally to deliver a couple of really good ballads, such as the acoustically driven “I Was Somebody” and “Brightside,” as well as the very memorable “Running Out,” all of which really allow the vocals to shine. “Cherry” draws a lot of influence from pop punk, pop rock, and everything in between. Last Night Saved My Life’s sound is a perfect fusion of those two genres, and this entire album shows it very well. LISTEN TO THE ALBUM HERE:
