You recently dropped an acoustic EP, titled “(Very Cool).” What inspired you to create a fully acoustic release?
Playing songs acoustically has always been my preferred way of playing music, so we decided to do a fun little acoustic project with older songs revisited before moving onto our new songs. Earlier in the year, you re-released your album “Very Cool Music For Very Cool People.” How has it impacted your career and what have been some highlights of this release cycle so far? It’s been great! We have gone on two full US tours in 2019 and have much more planned for 2020, so the re-release definitely helped us get more people listening to what we have to say. We are also really ready to move on and put new music out, as we originally put out VCMFVCP in mid 2018 and want to record new songs. You’ve also been touring quite a lot in 2019 in support of both of these releases, as you supported Hot Mulligan this past spring and are currently on tour with Tiny Moving Parts. How have the crowds been reacting to the newer material? Are there any particular songs that seem to be the crowd favorites so far? They seem to enjoy it a lot which makes us VERY happy/relieved. We usually have people moshing around by the end of our set whether they have heard us before or not, Ghost of Mariano’s tends to get people on their feet. You also just released a single titled “never tell u”, which is the start of the next era of Fredo Disco. What about this song made you choose it as the one to start off this new part of your career with? We really want to change our sound up for this next record but don’t want it to be such a change in sound that we lose our current fans, and “never tell u” is kind of a perfect balance between the two in my opinion! Regarding the new music that will follow up this single - how would you compare it to your last couple albums as far as the music and overall sound goes? Very different and not at all alike. The songs will still have the same narrator behind them, but the music is a lot different. Your earlier work is a lot more acoustically driven, but since Fredo Disco became a full band, the music seems to be a lot more in the realm of pop punk, alternative rock and emo. Who are some of your primary musical influences now compared to who your influences were for your older material? For sure, when I was making acoustic songs by myself/just with Colin it was inspired by a lot of sad and slow songs. We’ve been writing as a full band for a while now and the main inspirations of this year have been Weezer, Say Anything, Car Seat Headrest, and bands like PUP. Do you have anything else planned in the near future in support of the music you’ve released this year, and what can people expect next? YES! We have new music and a video coming out in January, and much more after that ;) FOLLOW FREDO DISCO ON SOCIAL MEDIA HERE:fredo disco's latest single, "never tell u," is available now. listen to it here:

INTERVIEW BY: MEG
You released your EP “Dusk/Dawn” earlier this year. What has the reception to it been like so far, and how has the release impacted your career since the day it came out?
The response has been amazing! Loads of people have really enjoyed it and been supportive of us since. It really has escalated us to a new level in our career which has pushed us to do more shows and experiment more with the style like shown in Dusk / Dawn You dropped “Marionette” as the single for this EP. Any particular reason behind choosing it to be a single? We wanted to make an impact with this new EP. Going through all the songs ‘Marionette’ we felt was the one that sent a strong message of what the EP is about and what we are aiming to do doing forward. You also dropped a music video for the single. Is there any correlation between the music video and the lyrics and/or overall meaning of the song, and if so, what is it? Yes, the two are directly linked. Marionette is about being controlled. These can come in many different forms such as work, friends, relationship etc. It goes through the motions of the lies you are told (or tell yourself) and how you begin to believe to fit into this culture. These worlds can become comfortable to stay in as it is terrifying to break free from these bonds. This was the first song we wrote on the EP and it is the fastest song with a lot fo emotion in the lyrics. Our friends in digichemistry did a great job at taking the meaning and creating a video behind it. What has the reaction been like to these new songs when playing them live, and which ones would you say got the best reactions from the crowds on your most recent tour? Very positive! People really like the new direction we are taken and have been more than supportive of it. So far Marionette and Dawn have gone down really well so far Speaking of which - you did a tour with Dayshifter a few weeks ago. How did that go and what was it like touring with them? It was a lot of fun! They are great guys and the live show they put on is one of the best we have ever seen. Make sure you check them out as they are going to blow up Are there any specific moments or memories from the tour that you’d like to share? Although it isn’t positive we did want to address one matter. Unfortunately on the first day of tour our bassist, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, had a collapsed lung. This meant he could not play the show. We put on the show for Cystic Fibrosis Trust to raise awareness for the illness and this only highlighted the need to help charities like this. This was very close to our heart so if anything from this story we would like to raise awareness for the charity and to give anything you can. We have experienced first hand the help that they do and it goes a long way. https://www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk/donate Since that tour has now come to an end, is there anything else you have planned in support of the single & EP, or are you going to focus more on working on your next release? We are working on a few things right now. Looking to play a few more shows and tours. We are currently looking at new music so make sure you stay tuned for more Virtue In Vain very soon. follow virtue in vain on social media here:
