SEASONAL TALK LATEST EP
Seasonal entered the pop punk scene last year with their debut EP, “Bloom.” Since then, they’d been hard at work putting together more songs that would eventually become apart of their newly released sophomore effort, “Weathered.”
“We wrote this release as we always do, in the practise studio and then taking it to the computer to get a feel for each track and what we like and dislike about the demos,” the band says about the writing process for the EP, “What differed to the writing process for 'Bloom' was this time around we also had the opportunity to play new tracks live and it was always useful hearing friends and fans feedback on them as to what they felt worked best for us. Their opinions were always very valueable and shaped this record more than they probably think.”
While writer’s block is a common obstacle that a lot of musicians and bands face when working on new material, that wasn’t quite the case for Seasonal, and when there was difficulty putting songs together, they still found ways to work around it. “We've always been quite fortunate to not really hit much of a writers block when creating music. If we find an idea isn't coming together, we tend to put together what we have on the computer and leave it alone. A lot of elements of our older or unused recordings often seem to find their way into something new that felt right. If we aren't feeling playing something we're writing from the get go, for us it's a sign and we won't force anything to come together for the sake of one 'bit' we think is great. That 'bit' will always slip into something in the future.” When listening to this new EP and comparing it to the band’s debut, their sound seems a bit different, a bit brighter and a bit more polished. “We definitely hear that this record was mostly written in the summer months, in comparison to 'Bloom' that was written in the winter. This has a noticable effect on the music that is portrayed, in the tempo and brightness of it. The songs are a bit more up tempo and edgier than those on our debut. We hope people can enjoy the summery feel of the record, as well as absorbing and relating to the lyrical content. It's packed full of driving guitars and catchy choruses so if pop rock and punk are your bag, it would be worth a listen!” ”THERE ISN’T A FIXED MEESAGE WE WERE TRYING TO PORTRAY WITH THE RELEASE. THERE IS AN ELEMENT OF WONDER, IN THAT IT’S LOOKING RETROSPECTIVELY AT CHOICES WE’VE MADE IN THE PAST.”
Much like they did on their debut EP, Seasonal aims to touch on personal topics and situations in their music, hoping that people can connect with the words in these songs as much as the members of the band do.
“There isn't a fixed message we were trying to portray with the release. There is an element of wonder, in that its looking retrospectively at choices we've made in the past. All the songs are about something that has happened, but we want the listener to relate their own life experiences to the lyrics rather than set out a particular message,” the band reveals regarding what the release is about, “we talk about a lot of personal stuff in our songs and lyrically there are a lot of relatable themes, so we hope with ‘Weathered’, like with ‘Bloom’ where we received some lovely messages from people saying what the songs meant to them; that these songs will also speak out to our audience and we get to connect with the people who reach out to us and say, 'that meant something to me.’ We're really proud with the lyrical content on this release and think they're some of the strongest and hardest topics we've addressed.” While “Weathered” may have been dropped very recently, the band are already working on their next one. “We have already dipped into the studio briefly to warm up the tubes so this release isn't by any means our last release,” the band hints, “there are no plans set in stone for future releaeses or what they will be as yet. We will certainly be taking these songs on tour with us for the foreseeable future and playing them to as many of you as we can if you'll let us!” FOLLOW SEASONAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA HERE:LISTEN TO THEIR MUSIC HERE:
